There are several parameters to take into account, such as:
- Cooling – Data center cooling apparatus are placed in such a way to provide better cooling across the entire cabinet rack and usually have ventilation with floor tiles, which will, in turn, provide better cooling resulting in lesser replacement measures of your servers.
- Power management – Datacenter usually has 3(Or at least 2) power sources, so in-case of any power surge or failure, the downtime won’t be affected as the backup power sources kick in.
- Overall management – Colocation usually have high-end DCIM suites to manage diverse customers according to their specifications and requirements, which you cannot implement in the in-house data center. E.g., some DCIM suites provide a Mobile app, web-based dashboards to view your power usage, temperature, humidity, etc., parameters in real-time.
